R Priya, a football player from Chennai who was age 17 years old, passed away from surgical malpractice, know the name of the doctor responsible for her death

She was a student at the Queen Mary’s College in Chennai and she passed away on November 15th morning. The footballer suffered from Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS) as a result of blood flow problems from the previous evening.

R Priya Dies: Chennai Footballer Dies Of Medical Negligence After Surgery 

Sadly, she died at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai. The health ministry has suspended two doctors who were complicit in that instance of medical malpractice. 

At Queen Mary’s College in Chennai, R Priya was a first-year student majoring in physical education. On October 26th, she was given the prognosis of a ligament injury in her right knee. According to the Government Peripheral Hospital’s medical staff, she will need to undergo arthroscopic surgery. This involved a process for identifying and correcting joint issues.

After that, R Priya and her family decided to seek a second opinion, and they went to see the medical staff at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH). They were advised to get the procedure by the medical staff at RGGGH hospital. At the Periyar Nagar Hospital on November 7, she had her initial arthroscopy procedure.

The Reason And Cause Of R Priya’s Death

However, Priya began to experience excruciating leg discomfort the night of the procedure. She was transferred to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital the following morning because a blood clot in her leg was thought to be present. The doctors informed her family that the tissues in their leg were dead after a series of tests and that the only way to save her life was to amputate her right leg.

Amputation Of Leg

On November 9, the leg was amputated. But even so, she continued to deteriorate following the amputation. On Monday, November 14, she even required another follow-up procedure. She continued to be monitored by the local medical staff while under anaesthesia and on a ventilator. But this morning, she passed away.

The goal of the treatment, according to Dr E Theranirajan, the hospital dean where Priya was treated, is to prevent additional necrosis (death of body tissue) or organ failure.

The Director of Medical Education said “Dr Paul Ram Shankar, Asst professor of Orthopedic, Government Peripheral hospital, Periyar Nagar, has been suspended and transferred to Tuticorin Medical college hospital. During the period of suspension, he shall be at Tuticorin and shall not leave Tuticorin without obtaining permission.”
