Amre Has A Bigger Role At Delhi Capitals
In the Indian Premier League Amre worked as a talent scout for the team Delhi Capitals. Later on Delhi Capitals hired him as the assistant coach in January 2021.
DC Captain Rishabh Pant Sends Coach Pravin Amre Onto The Field To Challenge An Umpire’s Decision, And The Video Goes Viral
The event occurred in the game’s last over.
The 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) pitted Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals against one other at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday (April 22). Though the Royals won by 15 runs in the end, the game was overshadowed by controversy in the last over, when the on-field umpires failed to award Obed McCoy a waist-high no-ball off the third delivery. In the IPL, umpiring has been scrutinised for years, and this season has been no exception.
On the day, McCoy missed his line and delivered a high full throw, raising the stakes even more. Rovman Powell, who had already hit two sixes off two balls, also hit this delivery into the stands, reducing the equation to 18 runs off three deliveries. The Capitals dugout was unhappy with the umpires for not adjudging the no-ball, and all of them, including captain Rishabh Pant, were out of their seats at this point.
Disgruntled DC Coaching Staff Amre Protests The Decision
Shane Watson and Pravin Amre, for example, spoke with the fourth umpire before asking for the judgement to be overturned. Pant even opted to summon back his hitters from the ground after the judgement was upheld. Even Jos Buttler seemed dissatisfied with the proceedings after a spat with the DC captain.
Finally, Rishabh Pant opted to send Amre, a member of the coaching staff, onto the field. He went on to dispute the umpire’s decision and also spoke with the umpires. However, they were firm on the play continuing and on their decision.
Although replays revealed that it was a waist-high no-ball. But, the on-field ruling was upheld. Later the Royals went on to win the game.
Ricky Ponting, the head coach of the Delhi Capitals, was not there for the game. He is now isolating himself after one of his family members tested positive for COVID-19. Once he was also observed fighting with one of the match officials beyond the boundary not long ago. He has now been banned for one match after rushing on the field.
