Pramod Sawant is a popular Indian politician by profession who is the 13th and present Chief Minister of Goa. Sawant represents the Sanquelim constituency at the Goa Legislative Assembly and is also a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Pramod Sawant was born on the 24th of April in 1973 and is currently aged 48 years old. He was born to Pandurang and Padmini Sawant. Pramod Sawant obtained a degree in Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery from the Ganga Education Society’s Ayurvedic Medical College based in Kolhapur. He got a postgraduate degree of the Master of Social Work from the Tilak Maharashtra University at Pune.
Pramod is also an Ayurveda Medical practitioner by profession. He was serving as the speaker at the Goa assembly before being titled as Chief Minister, after the death of the sitting chief minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar.
Pramod Sawant began his professional electoral career when he participated in the Pale Constituency by-election in 2008, on Bharatiya Janta Party ticket. During this election, he lost to Mr. Pratap Prabhakar Gauns of the Indian National Congress. He contested at the 2012 assembly election from the Sanquelim constituency.
Pramod achieved a place in the constituency by 14,255 (66.02%) votes defeating Mr. Pratap Prabhakar Gauns of the Indian National Congress. Sawant also served as the spokesperson of the Goa unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party for a brief period of time. Later on, in 2017 he was re-elected for the Goa Legislative Assembly from the same constituency defeating, Mr. Dharmesh Saglani of the Indian National Congress with 10,058 votes.
On the 22nd of March in 2017, Pramod Sawant was elected as the Speaker for the Goa Legislative Assembly. He is married to Mrs. Sulakshana Sawant and she was a teacher of chemistry previously. But nowadays she is also a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and presently the President of the Goa unit of the BJP Mahila Morcha.
