Anthony Varvaro lived two dreams. He was a pro baseball player and a police officer.
The Italian American, 37, died suddenly in a car accident on his way to a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony in NYC.

The 37-year-old, native of Staten Island, who spent almost a 6-year of his career in MLB pitching for the Atlanta Braves, started his employment with Port Authority Police Department back in the year 2016 at the World Trade Center Command. His net worth stood at $3 million.
Between 2010 to 2015, Anthony pitched for the Braves, the Seattle Mariners, and the Boston Red Sox. Later he went on to join the police department.
According to a report by the Post, a Port Authority source revealed that when Anthony was killed, he was on his way to work at the commemoration of the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks at the World Trade Center.
The father of 4 kids eventually rose to a position of instructor at his department’s police academy.
According to a statement released by Authorities, Anthony was killed in a head-on collision on a section of the New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 14-C near Jersey City.
As per a report by the Daily Voice of New Jersey, the cops revealed that at the time of accident, the driver that hit Anthony was going in the wrong direction.
The Port Authority Police Benevolent Association’s president, Frank Conti opened up in a statement that the union was “shocked and saddened” by the veteran officer’s tragic death.
He said that, “Anthony’s life was taken from us as he prepared to honor the lives of the 37 Port Authority police officers who perished on Sept. 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center.”
He further added, “Police Officer Anthony Varvaro will always be honored and never forgotten.”
The PA Chairman, Kevin O’Toole and Executive Director Rick Cotton said in a joint statement that, “The entire Port Authority family is heartbroken to learn of the tragic passing of Officer Anthony Varvaro.”
They continued in their statement as, “On behalf of the agency, we send our deepest condolences to Officer Varvaro’s wife, Kerry, his four children and his family and friends.”
