The National film award-winning filmmaker, Mani Ratnam’s much-hyped magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan is based on the writer-activist Kalki Krishnamoorthy’s novel of the same name. The movie tells the fictional tale of one of the Indian kings Raja Raja Chola first. This is being called filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s dream project.

Ponniyin Selvan Theatrical Release
Ponniyin Selvan will be premiered in two parts part one was scheduled to hit the theatres on 30th September in year 2022. The Tamil language historical movie had its released in four different languages Tamil along with its dubbed version in languages Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu.
Ponniyin Selvan’s Digital Rights And OTT Release
The post-theatrical digital rights of the movie have been acquired by the giant streaming of the Amazon Prime Video, it is being said that both parts of the movie are acquired INR 125 crores.

PS1 went on the floors in December of 2019 and reportedly concluded in September in year 2021. Further makers refuted all the claims saying that films like Ponniyin Selvan are made only for the theatres, therefore makers are yet not thinking about the digital premiere of the historical movie.
Moreover, Ponniyin Selvan could be made available for digital viewers after the theatrical release; it will more likely be available on the streaming handles after the 4-weeks stay of the movie in theaters on the October last week of 2022. Moreover, it will depend on the Box Office.
Ponniyin Selvan Cast And Makers
The main lead is Vikram who is essaying the role of Aditya Karikalan, Jayam Ravi in the titular role., Karthi is portraying the warrior prince Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, Aishwarya Bachchan is in the role of Nandini/Mandakini Devi, and Trisha is the Chola Princess Kundavai Pirattiyar.
Mani Ratnam with the direction also wrote the screenplay with Elango Kumaravel. Lyca Productions in association with Madras Talkies is also involved. Being the technical front, A. Sreekar Prasad did the editing part of the film, the camera is cranked by Ravi Varman and the multi awards winner music mogul A.R. Rahman is on board for the music.
