Prime Minster Narendra Modi on Thursday spearheaded a review meeting of India’s modus operandi for the Tokyo Olympics. Chairing the meet which involved all the relevant stakeholders, the PM went through every nook and cranny to ensure the country was sending its athletes to Japan with the best plausible resources and training.
The games which get underway in Tokyo 50 days later have been shrouded in uncertainty across the last year. After the 2020 edition was postponed to 2021 owing to the COVID pandemic, the forthcoming edition continues to remain in the air as well owing to a slew of Coronavirus cases in Japan.
PM Modi Chairs Meeting On India’s Tokyo Olympics Contingent
While Japan’s government has on manifold occasions stressed upon the health measures it has in place to tackle any concern, question marks continue to hang over the event. And keeping the dire worldwide COVID situation at the moment, PM Modi emphasised the importance of ensuring every athlete of the Indian contingent was vaccinated.
The Prime Minister was also informed about the training regime in place for every athlete during the ongoing health crisis. The bigwigs from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affair spelt out the plans in place for boosting the morale and confidence of every athlete prior to them jetting off.
PM Modi was also apprised of the fact that 100 athletes have already cleared their berth at the games across 11 verticals and disciplines whilst 25 more should qualify by the end of June.
PM Modi’s Message For India’s Athletes
