PLUTO Trailer at Anime Expo 2023
The official teaser trailer for Netflix’s PLUTO Anime, which adapts Urasawa’s gorgeous seinen manga. It gives viewers a taste of what to expect in under two minutes. Admittedly, the trailer’s visuals are impressive, as it opens with inspector Gesicht receiving a call about two homicides. The first target was a robot in Switzerland, while the second was a German man named Bernard Lanke. Both murders occurred in different countries.
Both victims had what appeared to be horns left on their heads. Leading Gesicht to believe that the same individual was responsible for both killings. The Europol investigator is perplexed as to how a person could break the sturdy body of Mont Blanc. The robot was the first victim. However, he rules out the possibility of it being a robot because humans apparently never intended for robots to carry out such a task.
The teaser then continues with shots of North No. 2, Atom, and Uran, three more main characters from the series. There is an underlying suggestion that the line separating people and robots is blurring. It is to the point where they can be easily confused with one another. In this context, Gesicht finds himself curious about the limits of evolution.
Inspector’s realization that a robot may be responsible for the murder spree causes shock. Several frantic action sequences play out after the PLUTO Anime series’ logo appears. By the end of the teaser, a stunned Gesicht acknowledges that he had no idea how to tell a robot from a human.
