Phil Urban, a freshman forward for Post University’s men’s basketball team, was tragically shot and died on Saturday at a New Jersey nature preserve, according to authorities. He was just 20 years old.

Police were called to the Hopewell Valley Nature Preserve in Hopewell Township around 7 PM on Saturday, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, where they discovered Urban “slumped over” in the driver’s seat of a Mercedes C300 on a road. According to authorities, Urban was brought to a nearby hospital, but he was later declared dead from a gunshot wound.
According to the prosecutor’s office, early evidence indicates that Urban had planned to meet a friend at the preserve and was wounded at some point during the meeting. He was shot at some time during the contact, according to the authorities. An investigation is still ongoing, and no one has been arrested.

The community of Post University, according to CEO and President John L. Hopkins, was heartbroken to learn of the death of freshman student Philip Urban, last night.
In a statement he said that as a member of the men’s basketball team and a business administration major, Philip modelled the traits of leadership, devotion, and hard work on the court and in the classroom. They pray for strength for his loved ones, friends, and everyone else affected by his passing during this incredibly trying time.

At Connecticut’s Post University, Urban was a first-year student. In April, Urban committed to playing basketball at Post University. At the time, the school tweeted to welcome him to the group by adding, “Frank Urban Phil is a versatile 6’6″ wing from Manalapan, New Jersey, who can play a variety of positions. We look forward to what Phil will bring to our team as a player and as a person. Phil, welcome to the nest!”
