Saka, Palmer, and Foden are undeniably three of the most talented young attackers that England has ever produced, with Foden considered a generational talent.
Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, and Cole Palmer 2023/2024 stats comparison
Foden proved his worth again on Sunday after scoring two goals in a 3-1 win over rivals Manchester United. Following the match, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola argued that Foden is the best player in the Premier League. However, this is debatable as both Saka and Palmer are also having great campaigns with Arsenal and Chelsea, respectively.
Goals and assists
In comparison, Saka has so far scored 13 Premier League goals this season, while Foden has scored 11 times and Palmer 10. Moreover, all three players have bagged seven assists each. However, all 11 of Foden’s goals have notably come from open play, while Saka and Palmer scored four and five from the penalty spot, respectively.
Take-on success rate
Another comparison between them is their take-on success rate. Foden is clearly the superior player again, with a take-on success rate of 52.17 percent per 90 minutes. Meanwhile, Saka registered 44.87 and Palmer 48.39.
Duels won
On the defensive side of the game, Foden again bests the two, playing a key role on Pep Guardiola’s side. The 23-year-old has won 54.21 percent of the ground duels, while Saka won 50.57 and Palmer won 41.06.
Pass accuracy
Foden has also attempted and completed more passes per 90 minutes than Saka and Palmer. He has a pass accuracy of 88.7 percent, while Saka has 83.04 and Palmer has 84.48. What makes this more impressive is that Foden has played in a more central role this season than his England teammates. Based on the above stats, while all three are spectacular players, Phil Foden is the clear winner.
