A judge recently ruled that the child support case filed by Maralee Nichols against Tristan Thompson would be tried in California only
With Tristan Thompson in no mood to indulge his personal trainer Maralee Nichols and their baby which was conceived on December 3, Nichols decided it was prudent to move court. She ended up filing a case asking the Kings player to pay her child support with Tristan going onto file a counter suit in Texas.
With the child support laws being way more favourable in Texas than in California where the initial case was filed, Thompson did his best to try and move the hearing to Texas. However, in a fresh hearing, his plea has been quashed with the child support hearing set to go ahead in California only.
Maralee Nichols Denies Tristan Thompson Paternity Test, Case Will Be Heard In California
Both Thompson and Nichols had attended and testified at a virtual hearing on December 15 as reported by Page Six.
While personal trainer Nichols filed a paternity lawsuit against Thompson in California in June, Thompson had filed his own suit against her in July Texas claiming that she owned property in Houston.
“Regardless of whether any act of conception occurred in Texas that could have led to the conception of the child, [Thompson and Nichols allegedly] had a lengthy relationship spanning multiple states,” Us Weekly’s source explained.
“The child was born in California, the mother resides there and so does Tristan,” they added. “It would make sense the judge would dismiss this given the facts and the California lawsuit filed prior to the Texas one,” the source continued.
Maralee Nichols has meanwhile gone onto deny Tristan Thompson for a paternity test after he told the court he didn’t want any visitation time for the baby.
