Pentatonix’s Members
Pentatonix gained fame after they triumphed on NBC’s popular singing competition “The Sing-Off” in 2011. With billions of streams, 10 million records have reportedly been sold globally. The Cappella ensemble is from Texas Arlington. They presently have 20 million subscribers and 5.9 billion views on their YouTube account. Additionally, Pentatonix has received three Grammy Awards to date: Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2017, and Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella in 2015 and 2016. The band’s members are Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee.
Mitch Grassi
One of the band’s primary singers is Mitch Grassi. His high tenor voice earned him fame and a reputation among top artists. Along with Kirstin Maldonado and Scott Hoying, he attended Martin High School. Along with Hoying and Maldonaldo, Grassi started his own singing trio in high school, which they named “The Trio.” According to Pentatonix fans, he has identified as queer and uses the pronouns he/she.
Scott Hoying
The Acapella group’s vocalist is Scott Hoying. Grassi and Hoying have been close pals for a very long time. Additionally, he and Grassi formed the musical group “Superfruit.” Acapop! KIDS, an acapella group he founded with members who were all 17 or younger, helped him gain fame as well. Hoying has been dating the model Mark Manio since 2017, to whom he made a beachside proposal in the Bahamas in 2022.
Kevin Olusola
The beatboxer for the band is known as Kevin. But in April 2011, his cello-boxing rendition of Mark Summer’s “Julie-O” went viral, and that’s how he rose to fame. Oluwole Olusola, a psychiatrist, and Curline Paul, a nurse from Grenada, welcomed Kevin into the world in Kentucky. He went to a number of schools, including Sutton Elementary School, Triplett School, and Owensboro Public Schools. Kevin dated Leigh Weissman for two years before they were married in 2019. The couple has a daughter who is one year old.
Kirstin Maldonado
Kirstin has a reputation as an actor and singer. With the band, she has made seven albums. The vocalist has Italian and Spanish ancestry. The 30-year-old went to Martin High School after first attending Holy Rosary Catholic School. As a National Hispanic Scholar, Kirstin attended the University of Oklahoma to study musical theatre on a full scholarship. But she dropped out of college to start the band. She has started several solo ventures, such as “Break a bit.” The singer and Ben Hausdorff have a daughter together and are still dating.
Matt Sallee
The band’s second bassist is Matt Sallee. As a substitute for Avi Kaplan, a previous member of Pentatonix, Sallee joined the group. A Pentatonix Christmas Deluxe is the band’s first album he has released. Sallee was trained by his father, a music minister, and was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in La Plata. He also holds a degree from the esteemed Berklee College of Music. According to Pentatonix Fandom, Sallee joined the group his freshman year and served as its leader his senior year at Berklee.
