The PDC World Darts Championship, also known as the William Hill World Darts Championship, is a World Professional Darts Championship, know its prize money
PDC World Championship is conducted yearly in the sport of darts and organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).
The PDC World Darts Championship runs from December to January and is hosted by Alexandra Palace in London, where it has been since 2008. The winner of the Sid Waddell Trophy, named after darts commentator Sid Waddell, who died in 2012, is the most prestigious of the PDC’s competitions.
The PDC World Darts Championship originated in 1994 as the World Darts Council World Darts Championship, as a result of the split in darts that saw the World Darts Council split from the BDO.
Players Who Have Dominated PDC World Darts Championship
Since the tournament’s beginning, ten different victors have emerged. Phil Taylor has dominated the competition with 14 wins in 25 outings, and he last won it in 2013. John Part (2003 & 2008), Adrian Lewis (2011 & 2012), Gary Anderson (2015 & 2016), and Michael van Gerwen are the other players to have won it twice (2014, 2017 & 2019). Dennis Priestley (1994), Raymond van Barneveld (2007), Rob Cross (2018), Peter Wright (2020), and Gerwyn Price are the only one-time champions (2021).
