2024 PDC World Darts Championship schedule, draw, format, & key players
On the inaugural night of the 2023/24 Paddy Power World Darts Championship, Michael Smith is set to defend his title. The pre-Christmas segment of this premier darts event promises an exciting display of darting prowess at London’s Alexandra Palace, spanning nine days from December 15 to December 23. Smith, the reigning world champion, will commence his title defense on the opening night against either Kevin Doets or Stowe Buntz.
The tournament is set to commence on Friday, December 15, featuring a match between 2010 runner-up Simon Whitlock and former PDC Asian Championship finalist Paolo Nebrida. In another match, Cameron Menzies and Rusty-Jake Rodriguez will compete for a place in the second round. On Saturday, two-time World Champion Gary Anderson is expected to start his title campaign, with a potential exciting encounter against Simon Whitlock.
On Saturday afternoon, 2021 semi-finalist Dave Chisnall will be in the spotlight as he confronts either Menzies or Rodriguez. Meanwhile, American number one Jules van Dongen will make his debut against DPA qualifier Darren Penhall. The action on Sunday, will be headlined by world number three Luke Humphries, who will face either Lee Evans or Sandro Eric Sosing.
Following a brief intermission for a three-day Christmas break, the action resumes with the third and fourth rounds scheduled between December 27-30. The tournament culminates with the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the grand final, all slated to occur from January 1-3, promising an intense and thrilling conclusion to the event.
