The PDC World Cup of Darts in 2022 will be the 12th edition of the Cazoo World Cup of Darts. It will be held at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt, Germany, from June 16 and will run till June 19, 2022. We take a walk down the memory lane of the competition.
PDC World Cup of Darts Tournament Format
The field of World Cup of Darts was expanded to 32 teams in 2014 and 2015, with the top 16 teams seeded and each playing a best-of-nine doubles match to begin. Following that, the format was the same as in the previous tournament’s later stages, with two best of seven leg singles matches. If one team won both singles matches, they were proclaimed the winners; if each team won one match, the winner was determined by a best of seven doubles match.
Since then, the format has remained largely unchanged, with the exception of 2016, when only the top 8 teams were seeded rather than the top 16.
