Famous bassist and one of the founding members of British alt-rock band Happy Mondays, Paul Ryder, has passed away at the age of 58, know his cause of death and obituary

The tragic news of his demise was confirmed by the band members in a social media statement. The band took to their social media handle and posted, “The Ryder family and Happy Mondays band members are deeply saddened and shocked to say that Paul Ryder passed away this morning”.

They further added that he was a “true pioneer and a legend. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time Long live his funk x”.

For now, neither his family members or the bandmates have confirmed the cause of his death. His net worth stood at $1 million.

According to a report by Guitar World, the musician was born in 1964 at Salford, England. At a very young age, he managed to play bass and later he formed a band Happy Mondays with his brother Shaun.

His brother served as the group’ frontman while the other members such as Mark Day was the guitarist, Gary Whelan handled the drums, keyboard was managed by Paul Davis and Mark “Bez” Berry was the dancer and percussionist.

Their band, Happy Mondays became one of the most Legendary bands in the UK as they invaded the music scene and pop-rock together and flower-power optimism-inspired music.

Their most famous album was the record “Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches” of 1990 as it was propelled by the popular song “Step On”.

The album was a massive success as it went platinum in the UK alone. After this, throughout their run, Paul Ryder became one of the most important band members.

Paul joined the Happy Mondays at a reunion in 1999 but later, following the year, he left the group. However, he returned in 2012 along with some original line-up. The band continued to play until his death.

During an interview in 2011, while talking about his band, Ryder said he “liked it all” before saying that, “I liked writing, I liked rehearsing, I liked being in the studio and I liked all the traveling – doing all the shows all around the world. It’s the perfect job for me – or should I say a well-paid hobby, not actually work”.

Although as of writing this article, the band hasn’t announced or cancelled any of their performances over the next few months. Ryder was supposed to perform on Friday, July 15th at Kubic Festival in Sunderland.
