French footballer Paul Pogba suffered a knee injury during a recent pre-season training session, know his latest update, news and return date

The 29-year-old midfielder hobbled off the pitch as got sent off for some scanning to assess the issue. The injury comes as a setback to his return campaign with the Bianconeri.

Pogba has just recently returned to his former club, Juventus, on a four-year contract after his contract at Manchester United expired. Juve fans are excited to see the return of their former midfielder, but the club will have to keep him on the sidelines for several matches.

Paul Pogba, who is a World Cup winner with his French national side, hobbled off the pitch with a knee injury.

How did the injury take place?

The injury comes just after his friendly debut for Juventus against Guadalajara in Nevada on Saturday, where they won 2-0. After the return trip, Pogba complained about a knee issue to club officials during a training session in Los Angeles.

Juventus have since revealed that the midfield star who underwent some preliminary scans came back with a meniscus issue. The club will now set to seek further opinion from a specialist and stated the following in a statement on Monday night.

Following complaining of pain in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological examinations that revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus. In the next few hours, he will undergo a specialist orthopedic consultation. Therefore, in order to continue treatment, he is not taking part in the trip to Dallas.

Expected Return Date

Juventus are still yet to determine the complete seriousness of Pogba’s injury. The club are still waiting on the orthopaedic specialist to confirm further details about the extent of the injury.

However, the club have confirmed that Pogba will probably sit out the friendly against Barcelona at Dallas on Tuesday. He is also likely to sit out the remaining pre-season friendlies against Real Madrid (July 30) and Atletico Madrid (August 7).

Due to the nature of his injury, there is speculation as to whether Pogba can make a debut start on the opening day of the Serie A season against Sassuolo on August 15.

Paul Pogba’s Injury History At Man Utd

Pogba had a rather disappointing injury history back at his former club in England. In each of his last three seasons at Manchester United, Pogba missed significant amounts of game time. What’s interesting, however, is that none of those injuries were publicly recorded knee injuries.

Last season alone, Pogba missed 19 matches with hamstring and calf injuries. He missed 13 matches with hamstring and ankle issues in the 2020–21 campaign. He then missed 40 matches with ankle problems during the 2019–20 campaign.

Between 2012 and the 2018-19 season, during his previous stints at both Man Utd and Juventus, Pogba was reasonably injury-free, missing only 28 matches in total.
