Touted to be a high-octane gangster thriller, Pathu Thala movie is a Tamil remake of Obeli N Krishna’s early 2019 Kannada movie, Mufti which starred Siva Rajkumar in a key role. More interestingly, the upcoming version has been directed by famous director Obeli N. Krishan.

The movie has been produced by K.E. Gnanavel’s Studio Green in association with Dr. Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios. Pathu Thala starred Gautham Karthik in its key role alongside Silambarasan, and its the first time that two promising actors in the industry are co-acting together with each other.
Karthik was last seen in an Ezhil directorial. This upcoming remake will also star Priya Bhavani Shankar in its female lead role with Gautham Vasudev Menon, and many others on board to play key roles.
Pathu Thala release date and OTT platform
The filming of Pathu Thala was wrapped up in November 2023, and it is scheduled to hit on the big screens by the 30th of March 2023.
Meanwhile, the post-theatrical streaming rights of the movie have been acquired by the leading streamer, Amazon Prime Video. The platform has paid Rs. 26 crores to acquire rights. The OTT release date isn’t known though. The budget of the movie stands at Rs.40-50 crore.

The trailer of this film was launched on the 18th of March 2023 and has earned more than 1.5 crore views so far. The movie is not just a treat for Silmabarasan fans but also for action genre lovers.
The movie has music and a background score by the legendary music maestro A.R. Rahman. The team includes Farook K Basha as cinematographer, R. Shakthi Saravanan as action choreographer, Praveen KL as its editor, and RS Ramakrishnan as the dialogue writer.
This movie revolves around a cop who works as an undercover agent in a place that is taken over by a mafia. Two underworld dons are involved in the plot.
