Why the visitors are flocking to the Park Circus ?
Park Circus in Kolkata recently unveiled its new underwater tunnel aquarium, modeled after the Dubai aquarium and underwater zoo. Notably, the tunnel design offers a captivating experience to visitors. Open from 2 PM to 10 PM, the aquarium charges an entry fee of INR 100 per person and welcomes visitors from across the state. Welcoming visitors of all age groups, the aquarium has swiftly gained popularity.
Inspired by similar attractions in Dubai and Singapore, Mr. Gaurav Dhawan, the Uddipani Club of Park Circus’ chairman, was determined to bring this experience to Kolkata. Collaborating with Neel Entertainment from Kerala, known for organizing such shows primarily in Hyderabad, the underwater tunnel aquarium became a reality after three months of dedicated effort. Originally scheduled to launch during Durga Puja, it faced a 25-day delay due to unavoidable reasons.
What attractions are available inside Kolkata’s Park Circus?
Two Santa Clauses enthusiastically welcome visitors as they enter the tunnel, embracing the festive atmosphere. Within the marine world, on all sides and above, fish tanks surround visitors, allowing them to leisurely stroll and observe a variety of fish species. Among them are the Black Tetra, commonly known as the Widow, and a vibrant collection of small, luminous fishes showcasing a multitude of colors.
Individual tanks in rows house an eclectic mix of fish, from baby sharks to goldfish. The highlight is the stunning Flowerhorn, distinguished by its large red head, which captivated children during My Kolkata’s visit on a delightful Saturday afternoon. Towards the tunnel’s end, attention is drawn to the Arapaima, a large fish with a crocodile-like mouth. Exiting the tunnel leads to a tent adorned with vibrant decorations and brilliant lighting.
Inside, lifelike figures of marine creatures, including a massive octopus, a mermaid, an alligator, and a snake, await exploration. Children can freely explore this lively space, complete with realistic animal models. At the center stands a Christmas tree, serving as the perfect backdrop for selfies and photos.
