As per the schedule, the Paris Olympics 2024 weightlifting events will take place from August 7 to August 11 at the South Paris Arena. Notably, weightlifters will vie for Olympic medals across five weight classes in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Mirabai Chanu, who captured a silver medal for India on the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics, is gearing up for her third consecutive Games. Despite recent injuries, she has made an impressive recovery from a hip injury sustained at last year’s Asian Games.
In April, Mirabai returned to competitive lifting at the IWF World Cup after a five-month injury break, recording a total of 184kg. To secure a medal at the Olympics, she must exceed the 200kg mark. While China’s Hou Zhihui leads the race for gold, Mirabai will face stiff competition from Thailand’s Surodchana Khambao, the USA’s Jourdan Elizabeth Delacruz, and Romania’s Mihaela-Valentina Cambei—each capable of lifting around 200kg.
