Men’s football at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 will take place from 24 July to 9 August, featuring sixteen teams. Each squad must consist of players under 23, with three overage players allowed in the 18-man squads. Alexandre Lacazette, the former Arsenal star now back at his boyhood club Olympique Lyonnais, will lead France. Naby Keita, a Champions League winner with Liverpool in 2019, will captain Guinea. Argentina’s squad features four players who won the 2022 FIFA World Cup: Julian Alvarez, Nicolas Otamendi, Geronimo Rulli, and Thiago Almada.
Spain’s team includes new European champions Fermin Lopez and Alex Baena, who seek to surpass their nation’s silver medal finish at Tokyo 2020. Achraf Hakimi is determined to lead Morocco to the gold medal match, which will be held at his home stadium, the Parc des Princes. Along with Lopez and Baena, Ukraine’s Maksym Taloverov will also compete at Paris 2024, adding to a busy summer after Euro 2024.
French football legend and Olympic Torchbearer Thierry Henry will manage France, while Argentina’s two-time Olympic champion Javier Mascherano aims to become the first man to win the Olympic men’s football tournament as both a player and a coach. Javier Mascherano won two gold medals with Argentina at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.
