The Indian para-badminton team, buoyed by a good year, continued their medal-winning streak at the current Bahrain Para-Badminton International 2022 in Manama, know the final medal table

The Indian Para shuttlers won 23 medals at the competition, including seven golds, three silvers, and 13 bronzes. Among the notable names was the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics gold medalist Pramod Bhagat, who won two gold medals in the men’s singles and mixed doubles divisions.

At the first Bahrain Para-Badminton International Championships in Manama, India won seven gold medals.

In the SL3 finals, the 33-year-old was handed a walkover by Great Britain’s Daniel Bethell, allowing him to win the top prize. Pramod beat Bethell in the Paralympics final last year, 21-14, 21-17.

Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles event, Pramod and Manisha Ramdass defeated Thailand’s Siripong Teamarrom and Saensupa Nipada 21-14, 21-11 to finish on top of the podium.

Pramod Bhagat’s perseverance pays off:

Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam have been training in Lima, Peru’s Videna National High-Performance Center. Both have been practicing with the Peruvian National Para-Badminton team in order to learn new styles and methods.

Pramod expressed displeasure after successive bronze medal performances in prior tournaments.

With two gold medals at the Bahrain Para-Badminton International. It looks that his hard work and dedication have finally paid off.

Manisha Ramdass, a promising doubles shuttler, came into the spotlight with her double gold medal performance, while Nithya Sre Sumathy Sivan (WS SH6) and Dhinagaran Pandurangan and Sivarajan Solaimalai (Doubles SH6) also won gold for India.

Tarun Dhillon also won a gold medal in the men’s singles SL4 final. By defeating Korea’s Shin Kyung Hwan in straight sets 21-9, 21-9.

Mandeep Kaur (SL3) took silver in the women’s singles after losing 5-21, 17-21 against Halime Yildiz. She stunned top-seeded compatriot Manasi Joshi in the semifinals with a 21-18, 21-14 victory.

Meanwhile, Paralympic gold medalist Krishna Nagar was forced to retire from his men’s singles semi-final SH6 match against Chu Man Kai of Hong Kong.
