About 7,000 participants from 41 countries are scheduled to compete in 39 sports during the Pan American Games, which are scheduled to take place from October 20 to November 5.

Santiago, the capital of Chile, was chosen six years ago to serve as the 2023 Pan American Games host city. Numerous officials and figures from the sports world have since contributed to realising the goal of holding these Games.

Athletes from the Americas compete in the largest multidisciplinary international sporting event, the Pan American Games. The competition will be place in Santiago, Chile from October 20 to November 5, 2023; preliminary rounds for several events began on October 18, 2023. For the first time, the Pan American Games are being held in Chile; and South America will host the eighth event.

The games are slated to take place in 39 locations throughout the Santiago Metropolitan Area and three other provinces of Chile. The Pan American Games, which begin in Santiago will feature 14 sports and 21 categories. The venues at National Stadium Sports Park were officially opened by Chilean President Gabriel Boric.

A team of 473 athletes from Canada will compete in the upcoming Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. Nearly 6,000 athletes from 41 countries in the Americas and the Caribbean compete in the quadrennial Pan American Games, which will go through November 5.

In 21 of the 39 sports, the Pan American Games serve as an Olympic qualifying event as competitors try to secure a spot in Paris in 2024.

“Fiu” is the official mascot of Santiago 2023 Games and it got it name because of the sound it makes “fiuuu” inspired by a bird named rush tyrant.

The Pan American Games Santiago 2023 competition begins on October 20 and will run until the next month November 16.

In addition to the opening ceremony, week one will see include 27 different events, including 3×3 basketball, boxing, swimming, rowing, marathon and women’s football and the following week, between October 23 and 29, 16 other events will take center stage, such as men’s soccer, tennis, surfing, women’s field hockey and sailing. During the final seven days of the games, 25 different events will occur, most notably athletic track & field and Santiago 2023 is expected to attract 6,909 Panamerican athletes and 1,927 paralympic athletes.
