Pakistan Cricket Board launched the Pakistan Super League in September 2015. Former Pakistan skippers Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja were signed to promote the league for the first three years. The tournament official begun on 4 February 2016 in the United Arab Emirates.
Five teams competed in the first two seasons – Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators. Multan Sultans was the sixth team to be added in the tournament in 2017. The team was acquired by Schon Properties in 2017.
PSL Teams and Their Owners List
Islamabad United : Leonine Global Sports owns the team, run by Ali Naqvi and Amna Naqvi. They have won two titles in 2016 and 2018. In the first season, they beat Quetta Gladiators to win the final. They won their second title by beating Peshawar Zalmi in 2018. Their home ground is Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Islamabad. Leonine Global also owns Hong Kong Island United in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz.
Peshawar Zalmi : Haier Pakistan owns the team and the CEO is Javed Afridi. ZALMI is a Pushto word meaning youth. Haier Pakistan is a consumer electronics and home appliances company in Pakistan. It was established in 2000 and is a subsidiary of the Chinese multinational group Haier. The team won their maiden PSL title in 2017, beating Quetta Gladiators in the final. This was the first instance when a PSL game was played in Pakistan.
Karachi Kings : ARY Group own the team. Salman Iqbal is the well known media mogul in Pakistan who owns the group. The ARY digital group was founded in the year 2000. Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram joined the team as a president. Karachi went on to win their maiden PSL in 2020 season, affected by the COVID 19 pandemic. They beat Lahore Qalandars in the final.
Lahore Qalandars : The team is owned by Fawad Naeem Rana, who is also the managing director of Doha-based QALCO. They are yet to win a PSL title, having made it to final only once in 2020.
Quetta Gladiators : The team is owned by Karachi-based Omar Associates. After losing the first two finals in 2016 and 2017, they won the championship in 2019. They beat Peshawar Zalmi in the final to take the revenge of the 2017 final.
Multan Sultans : This team entered in the Pakistan Super League in 2018. The 2017 PSL chairman Najam Sethi announced that a sixth team will be added in the tournament from 2018. This team was acquired by Schon Properties. The owners couldn’t pay the fee the annual fee to the Pakistan Cricket Board in 2018. After this, their contract was terminated and the team was taken over by Alamgir Khan Tareen and Ali Khan Tareen. They are currently the champions of the PSL this year.

Lahore Qalandars : The team was acquired for US 25.1 Millions $. The current net worth of the team is unknown but the owner, Fawad Rana’s net worth is 400 Millions $.
Quetta Gladiators : The team was acquired on 11 Million $. Currently, it’s worth 10.5 Million $.
Multan Sultans : The 2018 enterant was acquired on 41.6 Million $ US. They won the prize money of PKR 75 Millions (INR 3.5 crore) after winning their maiden PSL title.
