Of course, this may sound like an impossible task judging by current standings, but even a slight chance of it happening is enough hope for the team.
Pakistan vs Zimbabwe
Pakistan’s most recent match in the tournament ended with a loss against Zimbabwe. They are currently in the Super 12 stage, and during their second Group 2 match, Pakistan underwent a surprising defeat against Zimbabwe.

- Firstly, Pakistan needs to avoid losing against their three remaining competitors – the Netherlands, South Africa, and Bangladesh, and win by a large margin.
- Besides winning all of their three matches, Pakistan needs a minimum of three other teams to lose two matches.
- South Africa is the main challenger for Pakistan. For Pakistan to win a semifinal spot, they will need India to beat South Africa. If India does win against South Africa on Sunday and Pakistan also manage to win all the remaining matches, SA will have only five points while Pakistan will have six.
- Pakistan also have a chance of going through if Zimbabwe lose two of their next three games. This would mean that Pakistan will go through with six points.
- Another scenario where Pakistan makes it through is if the Bangladesh Tigers lose against India and Pakistan but beat Zimbabwe. This would give Pakistan at an advantage.
- The last scenario for Pakistan making it through to the semifinals is if the Netherlands who are currently level on points with Pakistan lose their next match.
Although the chances for Pakistan securing a semi-final spot are conceivable, the chances are still very slim. Moreover, their chances are not entirely in their hands, so it will be fascinating to see if Pakistan can make it through.
