The multisport event Solomon Islands 2023 Pacific Games is all set to kick off soon this month with a lot is exciting competitions and players.

Held in Honiara, Solomon Islands, from November 19 to December 2, 2023, the 2023 Pacific Games, also known as the XVII Pacific Games, would be a continental multi-sport competition for Oceania countries and territories. The Solomon Islands will be hosting the Pacific Games for the first time this year.

The initial dates of the Games were July 16–29, 2023. However because of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Solomon Islands, which caused delays in the preparation for the games, the organisers of the games asked for a date change to July 2021.

Where is the 2023 Pacific Games held?

The hosting rights were granted to the Solomon Islands on May 11, 2016, during the PGC General Assembly in Port Vila, by a vote of the 22 PGC members. It was said that there was just one vote separating them.

What are the sports played at the 2023 Pacific Games?

According to changes made to the Pacific Games charter on July 14, 2019, in Apia, Samoa, the schedule for the Pacific Games will include no more than 24 sports. Check out the names of the sports below:

2023 Pacific Games schedule

The 2023 Pacific Games are set to begin from November 19 to December 2. The opening ceremony of the following will commence on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Solomon Islands National Stadium in Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands. Tickets for the games can be bought from here.

It is expected that 24 countries and territories are to participate.
