2023 Orleans Masters Badminton draws and Indian stars

Given below are the draws for the Orleans Masters 2023:

Men’s singles

Kiran George, Mithun Manjunath, Sameer Verma and Sai Praneeth are the Indian players in action in the Men’s singles. Both Kiran George and Mithun Manjunath are in the same draw and in the first round, they will face Mark Caljouw and Denmark’s Victor Svendensen respectively.

Meanwhile, the seeded players in the quarter for that draw are Kenta Nishimoto and fifth seed Rasmus Gemke. Kiran George will likely meet Nishimoto in the second round if he wins in the first round.

Sameer Verma is the only Indian to feature in the second quarter of the upcoming edition. Verma will face Nhat Nguyen in the first round. Verma enters the tournament after recently losing out from the second round at last week’s Madrid Masters. If Verma wins the first round, he will face off against Chico Dwi Wardoyo in the second round.

Meanwhile, the fourth and final Indian player, Sai Praneeth, will also begin his campaign at the Orleans Masters following a second round exit from last week’s Madrid Masters. Praneeth will first face a qualifier in the first round and will likely face either Kanta Tsuneyama or Koki Watanabe in the second round.

Women’s singles

Indian star, Saina Nehwal also features in the entry list at the Orleans Masters 2023. However, her playing status remains unknown as she has been out of action since the Indonesia Masters in January. If she does play, Saina will face a qualifier match in the first round. Following which she will likely face Carolina Marin is she enters the second round.

Aakarshi Kashyap will play in the second quarter against Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira. Following the match, Kashyap will likely face third seed Gregoria Tunjung if she progresses into the second round.

Meanwhile, Malvika Bansod will begin her Orleans Masters campaign against Yvonne Li in the first round. However, her fitness is still a concern as Bansod retired from the Madrid Masters last week.

Men’s doubles

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are the top seeds at the Orleans Masters this year. The duo is scheduled to face off against Netherlands’ Ruben Jillie and Ties van der Lecq in the first round. Last week, the duo had to withdraw from their first round contest at the Madrid Masters due to Satwik’s injury.

Another Indian pair Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala are in the third quarter. They will face off against eighth seed Keiichiro Matsui and Yoshinori Takeuchi in the first round of the Orleans Masters.

Meanwhile, Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun are the final pair representing India in the seventh seed. The pair is in the final quarter and will face Thailand’s Chaloempon Chareonkitamorn and Nanthakarn Yordphaisong in the first round. Kapila and Arjun are coming off a second round defeat at the Madrid Masters last week. As such, they will be looking to make a deeper impact in the coming week at Orleans.

Women’s doubles

Indian women’s doubles players Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker are unseeded and will face Indonesia’s Lanny Mayasari and Ribka Sugiarto. The duo last played at the Thailand Masters and sadly exited from the first round.

Sikki Reddy and Arathi Sunil are the other Women’s Doubles pair who will face Ukraine’s Yelyzaveta Zharka and Mariia Stoliarenko in the first round. Last week at Madrid, the duo entered the second round, and they are looking for a better performance this week.
