Optus Stadium pitch report
Ahead of the match, Western Australia Cricket head curator Isaac McDonald stated in an interview:
This is Australia, this is Perth… I’m setting ourselves up for really good pace, really good bounce, and really good carry.”
Notably, McDonald is working to replicate the same pitch conditions from the first Test against Pakistan back in December, 2023. During that match, the surface provided enough pace and bounce which proved to be a significant test for the batters. Aside from that, McDonald also revealed plans to leave grass on the pitch to offer more speed on the pitch. McDonald added:
Both bowling units (Australia and Pakistan) were pretty rapid last year, and I’m hoping for much the same this year (for the India match).”
As such, based on the preparations and, the conditions of the Optus stadium pitch will favour pace bowlers.
