We discover that Bunny’s killer was none other than Poppy White following the finale’s numerous red herrings, a killer reveals party, and Charles (Steve Martin) staging his own demise (Adina Verson), know the ending explained of Only Murders in the Building season 2 finale
It seems that Tina Fey’s (Cinda Canning’s) overworked and undervalued assistant has a history of murder.
Only Murders In The Building Season 2 Episode 10 Finale Ending Explained, Spoilers, Killer, Story
Additionally, she is not who she claims to be. Poppy is actually Becky Butler, the subject of Cinda’s popular true crime podcast, All Is Not OK in Oklahoma. This was revealed at the conclusion of episode 9.
Becky, a follower of Cinda’s earlier works, pretended to die in order to flee her difficult family life and the sexual abuse she experienced at the hands of her boss, the mayor of Chickasha, Oklahoma. In exchange for a job, of course, she took the name Poppy White and provided Cinda the concept for All Is Not OK in Oklahoma.
Why Was Bunny And Why Was He Killed By Poppy?
Cinda Canning is the key to everything. Poppy’s idea that they discuss the disappearance of Rose Cooper is not at all appealing to her. This was because she is in dire need of another high-profile, graphic murder to discuss on her podcast (Shirley MacLaine). Poppy decides to solve the problem on her own by fabricating the ideal murder for them to cover.
She murders Bunny, and texts the Only Murders team to leave the building. Later she manages to escape through the Arconia’s underground tunnels, and conceals the bloody knife in Charles’ apartment to frame him. Together with her partner Officer Kreps (Michael Rapaport), who serves as Glitter Guy for her, she also plans conspiracies.
In the conclusion, some additional loose ends are resolved. Poppy visited Bunny at the Pickle Café to talk about the Rose Cooper picture. This explains why there is a video of Bunny leaving the diner furiously. The diner also links back to Bunny’s last words.
Selena Gomez’s character, Mabel, misheard Bunny say “14, Savage.” Instead, Bunny said, “14, sandwich,” pointing to Poppy’s Pickle Diner order: item number 14, a liverwurst and marmalade sandwich. It’s an… acquired taste.
Poppy’s guilt as the murderer is proven by two additional pieces of evidence. She first started sneezing in the Arconia’s tunnels, where Lucy (Zoe Colletti) heard her due to her allergy to birds, including Bunny’s parrot Mrs. Gambolini. Finally, Becky Butler’s DNA was discovered on the murder weapon by Detective Williams (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
Then, in order to convince Cinda to confess, Charles, Mabel, and Oliver (Martin Short) tell her everything, including Poppy’s real identity. Poppy and Kreps are detained after all the pieces of the puzzle are finally put together, and the Only Murders team is cleared of all charges.
When Paul Rudd Joins Only Murders, He Passes Away Right Away.
Even though Bunny’s murderer has been identified, Only Murders in the Building Season 2 still has one major surprise left to reveal. After a year has passed, the murder that would kick off the third season of the show is witnessed.
No one from the Arconia is the new victim. Instead, it’s actor Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), who is the lead in a recent Broadway production under Oliver’s direction. Charles, the other lead, is the one and only.
But it’s obvious that there is no healthy working relationship between these two. Ben mentions wanting to kill Charles for something he did during a conversation with Oliver on opening night. After a short while, Charles confronts Ben and says, “Be wise. Stay away from her,” and “I know what you did.”
Questions For The Season 3
What did Ben do to enrage Charles in such a way? How did their conflict begin? To whom is Charles referencing when he says “her”? Mabel, Lucy, or make-up artist Joy (Andrea Martin), whom Charles begins dating in the finale, are the three candidates I’m betting on. It’s also possible that the mystery woman is someone we haven’t yet met.
Ben falls and passes away on stage before we can get any answers to these queries. Charles is the main suspect based on what we’ve seen thus far, but Only Murders in the Building loves a twist.
Could Ben have been the target of a hidden vendetta by someone else? Is this a new plot to blame Charles for the crime? Will there be additional flashbacks featuring Paul Rudd? Season 3 will just have to pass before we learn more.
