Jharana Das Death And Achievements
Das was a winner of the state government’s prestigious ‘Jaydev Puraskar’ for her lifetime contribution to the Odia film industry. She died on Thursday night and her family confirmed the news of her passing to the media.
Her husband was the cameraman of Malajanha Odia films and she has two sons and a daughter. Her brother, who was in the Indian Air Force, convinced their family to allow Jharana to pursue her choice and she began as a voice dramatist on radio programmes while she was still in college.

Jharana Das was born in 1945 and she began her acting career in the 60s and had achieved numerous honors, allocates for her performance and great skills of acting. She has worked in the landmark films like ‘Shree Jagannath’, ‘Nari’, ‘Adinamegha’, ‘Hisabnikas’, ‘Pujafula’, ‘Amadabata’, ‘Abhinetri’, ‘Malajanha’ and ‘Heera Nella’.
Jharana Das has also worked being a child artist and announcer with All India Radio (AIR), Cuttack. Das had also served as an assistant station director of the Doordarshan in the Cuttack. Das’s direction in the biographical documentary on the former Odisha chief minister Harekrushna Mahtab was lauded by several people.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his grief over the demise of the Odia actress and declared that her last rites will be performed with full state honors. He stated her impactful performance on the stage and film will always be remembered. May her soul rest in peace and my condolences to the bereaved family,” Patnaik stated in a statement.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also consoled Das’s death. Several other celebrities and ministers gave her tribute and condolences. After the tragic death of this famous celebrity, the entire Ollywood industry is in shock. Many fans are also grieving the loss of a great actor of all time.
