Head To Head: 5-0

Against Pospisil, Djokovic holds a 5-0 advantage. He defeated the Canadian on hard courts in three of those victories. The Serb prevailed 6-4, 6-3 in their most recent encounter, which took place in the Eastbourne International round of 16 in 2017.

Prediction

The top seed Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil will compete in the Tel Aviv Open quarterfinals on Friday.

The Serb has put on some great performances despite not playing much tennis this season. He won the Italian Open before earning his 21st Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

Djokovic received a bye to the round of 16 and was the top seed going into the Tel Aviv Open after being eliminated from numerous big competitions. To ensure his place in the competition’s quarterfinals, he overcame Pablo Andujar 6-0, 6-3 in this round.

Pospisil lost in the final round of qualifying to Marius Copil after winning the first round against Ilya Marchenko in straight sets. As a result, he was unable to advance to the Tel Aviv Open. The Canadian, however, was a lucky loser and was allowed entry into the competition’s main draw.

In the opening round, the Canadian lost a set to eighth-seeded Tallon Griekspoor. To force a match-deciding final, he rallied back and won the second set in a tiebreak. Pospisil broke his opponent in the eleventh game of the decisive set, despite the close match. He continued to serve after that to win the game and advance to the round of 16. He won this match 6-3, 6-2 over Edan Leshem to get to the Tel Aviv Open quarterfinals.

However, Djokovic will enter the match as the overwhelming favourite to win. Both players won their previous match in straight sets. The Serb’s biggest concern was his recent absence from tennis, but now that he played in the Laver Cup and won his most recent match convincingly, he shouldn’t have too much trouble getting into a groove.

With his reliable serve, Pospisil will try to score as many unearned points as he can. But he will face one of the greatest returners of all time, so his serve will be put to the test. In order to guarantee his spot in the Tel Aviv Open semifinals, Djokovic easily defeated Andujar and is expected to defeat Pospisil with a similar ease.
