Due to a visa problem that resulted in his deportation from the country, Djokovic was forced to boycott the Australian Open, which made the beginning of the year extremely stressful for him. In the Dubai Tennis Championships, the Serb made a comeback, but Jiri Vesely stunned him in the quarterfinals. The Serb was unable to participate in the Indian Wells and Miami Masters due to the essential immunizations.

He made his comeback during the clay season, which began with a loss in the second round of the Monte-Carlo Masters. He reached the Serbia Open final the following week before moving on to the Madrid semifinals. He won his first championship of the year in the Italian Open.

In the quarterfinals of the French Open, Djokovic’s attempt to defend his title against Rafael Nadal was unsuccessful. The former World No. 1 went on to win his 21st Major title at Wimbledon after that. After his victory at the All England Club, he was once more forced to watch from the sidelines due to immunisation regulations in North America. The Serb later competed in the Laver Cup and won more titles in Tel Aviv and Astana. As he arrives in Paris, Djokovic is currently on a nine-match winning streak.

On the other hand, Maxime Cressy faced Diego Schwartzman in the opening round here in Paris. The American held his serve steadily throughout the entire first set before winning the crucial break in the eighth game to go up 5-3. He then served out the set. With an early 5-1 lead in the second set, Cressy twice broke Schwartzman’s serve. In the end, the Argentine put up a fight, taking a couple of games to make it 5-3, keeping his opponent from taking the match in one go. Cressy once more broke Schwartzman’s serve to win the match 6-3 6-3, but the Argentine was unable to take advantage of the advantage.

Cressy’s serve will be put to the test against Djokovic, one of the top returners. The former World No. 1 is currently in excellent shape and intends to continue winning. The fast courts in this area may help the American’s serve, but Djokovic is more than capable of handling it. It will be challenging for Cressy to defeat the most successful competitor in Paris Masters history, a 21-time Major champion.
