Novak Djokovic and Kwon Soon-woo have faced each other once before where the Serbian came past the South Korean qualifier at the 2021 Serbia Open in straight sets.
Prediction
Novak Djokovic and Kwon Soon-woo are scheduled to square off tomorrow at the first round of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The Serbian is a heavy favourite for the whole major so obviously, he will be a fully favourite to win the match tomorrow. While the South Korean did not even have a good season this year.
Additionally, this season, Soonwoo Kwon only participated in one game on grass. In the first round of the Rosmalen Grass Court Championship, he was defeated by Hugo Gaston. The only thing the Korean can take away from that game is that he did manage to save seven break points. He can produce a respectable amount of power with his groundstrokes and enjoys playing aggressive tennis. He could have been able to gain some momentum and settle in quickly on one of his favourite surfaces if he had played a warm-up match at the exhibition.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Djokovic, in his match against his arch-rival Nadal in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros, the 35-year-old lacked the proper attitude and body language. Although he came back strongly to tie the match at one set each, he was unable to settle into his customary rhythm.
One of the riskiest players on grass is Djokovic. His court coverage abilities are unmatched, and he can time the ball incredibly effectively on both wings.
The pick of the match is Djokovic and is expected to win in straight sets.
