Norwich City new next manager odds and favorites candidates list for 2024-2025 season

Following David Wagner’s sacking after Norwich City’s playoff defeat at Leeds United, the club is now searching for a new manager with the next manager odds now out

For the unfamiliar, Wagner, who joined in January 2023, now departed after a 4-0 loss in the Championship semi-final second leg at Elland Road on Thursday night.

Despite leading the team for 75 games, with 31 wins, 17 draws, and 27 defeats, his tenure was marred by a perceived negative style of play and he struggled to win over the fanbase, culminating in a 41% win rate.

The club announced, “Norwich City have parted ways with head coach David Wagner. Assistant head coach Christoph Bühler will also be leaving the club.”

Sporting director Ben Knapper added, “David has conducted himself with class and dignity throughout his tenure as Norwich City head coach, but we now believe it is the right time to move in a new direction.

“We remain dedicated to advancing our football club in both the short and long term through a diligent and thorough strategy.”

Norwich concluded the 2022/23 season in 13th place under Wagner. In the 2023/24 season, they improved to finish 6th and reached the playoffs.

In the semi-final, Norwich held Leeds to a 0-0 draw in the first leg but suffered a heavy defeat in the second leg.

Knapper is expected to seek a more forward-thinking coach, with Arsenal’s assistant manager Carlos Cuesta being a prime candidate.

Former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has also been mentioned but has already expressed his lack of interest in the role.

Norwich is also preparing for significant changes within the squad, with key players Jonny Rowe and Gabriel Sara likely to attract attention this summer. Last year, Norwich turned down a £15 million offer from Wolves for Rowe.
