Norway Chess 2022 Round 5 Results, Latest Standings, And Brilliance of Viswanathan Anand

After defeating Magnus Carlsen in Armageddon, Vishy Anand became the sole leader in Norway Chess, but the 52-year-old was disappointed that he’d outplayed the current World Champion in classical chess only to lose a winning position. Magnus is half a point ahead of Vishy, with Wesley So and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov a point behind after Shakh won a spectacular Armageddon. Anish Giri and Aryan Tari won the only classical matches of the day to improve their tournament standings.

In Round 5, Aryan Tari and Anish Giri won all three points in classical chess, while Vishy Anand, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave won 1.5 points in Armageddon.
