Currently, he is half-point ahead of nearest rivals Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Hikaru Nakamura, who won with their respective classical games in the second-round. After losing in his opening match, Alireza Firouzja won his classical match against Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the second-round and moved into the top half of the standings. After receiving a draw offer in a pawn-down position in the classical game, Magnus Carlsen defeated GM Wesley So in the Armageddon.
