On Wednesday, Fabiano Caruana defeated Anish Giri in the Armageddon to claim solitary lead for himself at the Norway Chess 2023. Currently, he is half-point ahead of nearest rivals Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Hikaru Nakamura, who won with their respective classical games in the second-round. After losing in his opening match, Alireza Firouzja won his classical match against Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in the second-round and moved into the top half of the standings. After receiving a draw offer in a pawn-down position in the classical game, Magnus Carlsen defeated GM Wesley So in the Armageddon.
Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura will play each other in the third round of the 2023 Norway Chess on Thursday, and it is sure to be a thrilling matchup.
