The 20-year-old’s potential signing with the Blues was first discussed last week, and on Thursday afternoon, a breakthrough led to the winger travelling to London for his medical. If Madueke’s contract is confirmed, he will become Chelsea’s fourth player to be under the age of 21 this month.

Who is Noni Madueke?

Chukwunonso “Noni” Tristan Madueke, an English professional football player who plays as a winger and attacking midfielder for Eredivisie side PSV, was born on March 10, 2002, and is currently 20 years old.

Madueke is Igbo from Nigeria. After joining PSV, Madueke’s mother followed him to the town of Wintelre, where he was born in Barnet.

Noni Madueke career

At the age of nine, Madueke joined Crystal Palace and stayed for three years. After joining Tottenham Hotspur, he led the under-16 team and debuted for the under-18 team at the age of 15. He accepted a three-year contract with Dutch club PSV in June 2018, leaving Manchester United out of the picture in the process.

Madueke made his professional debut for Jong PSV in the Eerste Divisie on August 26, 2019, entering as a 64th-minute substitute in a 1-0 loss to MVV Maastricht. Madueke re-signed with PSV on August 26, 2021, extending his stay with the team through 2025. Additionally, he received the number 10 jersey.

For international career, Madueke played for England at the young level, scoring twice against Denmark in a qualifying match for the 2019 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

On September 6, 2019, at De Montfort Park, Madueke made his U18 debut as a 70th-minute substitute during the 3-2 victory over Australia. Madueke was given his first England U21 call-up on March 15, 2021, as a member of the Young Lions team for the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
