Lyles was committed to play for the University of Florida’s Florida Gators, but in July 2016, both Noah and his younger brother Josephus signed with Adidas as professionals. Track & Field News selected Lyles the 2016 high school boys athlete of the year once more in November.
In the smoky air of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lyles began 2017 by winning his first senior national title in the 300 meters at the 2017 USA Indoor Championships, setting a new indoor world record of 31.87 seconds. In the 4 × 200-meter relay, he won a silver medal for the United States squad during the 2017 World Relays. In the 2017 IAAF Diamond League schedule, Lyles won two meets.
At the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Noah Lyles won the gold medal in the 100 meters, setting a new personal record with a time of 9.83 in the final.
Lyles earned a gold medal in the men’s 200-meter final on August 25, 2023, at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, clocking in at 19.52. At the World Athletics Championships, this is his sixth gold medal overall and his third in the 200 meters.
Lyles has clocked the top speed of 23.17mph in the 200m and clocked the speed during the 2023 U. S Championships where he posted 19.31s to become the third fastest in history and the American hold.
