The romantic series follows the life of a woman Son Hae-young, who is in her thirties, and determined to avoid any loss. The protagonist of the series, Kim Ji-uk, affectionately known as โangelic dog,โ is charming and of helpful nature.

However, their relationship takes a turn when they start developing feelings for each other.
Episode 12 Ending Explained
The finale episode of No Gain No Love began with Hae-young initially parting ways with Ji-uk, only to realize that now she canโt live without him. On the other hand, Ji-uk is freed from the obligations to his grandmother, mother, and Hae-youngโs mother.
The focus then shifted to Hae-young realizing that she is finally able to love Ji-uk without calculating any losses. As previously, in episode 11 we witness Hae-young distance herself from Ji-uk after finding that he was once her motherโs foster child.
Being furious that Ji-uk kept this from her, she retreats to her motherโs old home in the countryside. However, Ji-uk ends up following her there and while Hae-young is sad her mother no longer recognize her.
Later, we see Ji-uk comforting her as he shows a video of her mother holding a baby at the nursing home and calling the baby her daughter, Hae-young. The episode ended with Hae-young receiving news of her motherโs demise.
The final episode begins wth Hae-young, Cha Hui-seong, Ji-uk preparing for Hae-youngโs mother funeral. Despite their strained relationship, Hae-young acknowledges her motherโs fulfilling life, as many former foster children attended the funeral.
After the funeral, Ji-uk tells Hae-young that he wonโt leave her side, as it was his last promise to her mother. However, Hae-young breaks up with him, unwilling to burden either of them with more promises.
What Happened in the End?
In the final moments, Ji-uk leaves the country, keeping a promise to his half-brother Bok Gyu-hyun. Months later, he returns to South Korea for a family wedding, which Hae-young mistakenly believes is his wedding.
On her birthday, she sees him in her neighborhood, congratulates him, and recalls the memory of him giving her a lighter. Ji-uk follows her home, reminding her that she could never forget the person who taught her how to smoke..
In the end, they reconcile and the series concluded with each characters receiving closure, leaving little room for a second season.
No Gain No Love Season 2
As of now there isnโt any confirmation regarding the season 2, however, there will a spin-off titled โSpice Up Our Love.โ The spin-off series will air on October 3, 2024, on TVING TV and Prime Video.
