In another case police said that ES Suresh, a student at NIT Rourkela, died and his friend Neeraj Verma was badly hurt. When their bike hit an electric pole in the Jhirpani area of Rourkela in the Sundargarh district on Sunday afternoon.

Sources say that the people who died were Renga Purthi, 50, and Ramchandra Purthi, 40, both of Mahiskuda village in the Jamada police area. Renga and Ramchandra got into trouble on their way home from Rairangpur, where they had finished their work. In the accident, both people were seriously hurt.

People in the area rushed them to the hospital. But when they got there, the doctors said they were dead. When they heard about it, the police went to the hospital, filed a report, and sent the body for an autopsy.

How Many Accidents Happen On Indian Roads?

According to data from the SaveLife Foundation, the number of deaths per 100 car accidents in India went up from 37.5 in 2020 to 38.6 in 2021. The severity of the crash shows how likely it is that someone will die in a crash. The chance of dying in a car accident goes up with how bad the crash is.

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) says that there were 4,03,116 reported car accidents in 2021. Which is more than the 3,54,796 reported in 2020.

In the meantime, the number of people who die in car accidents has gone up by 16.8%, from 1,33,201 in 2020 to 1,55,622 in 2021. Last year, there were 3,71,884 people who were hurt in car accidents. The number of deaths per thousand vehicles has also gone up from 0.45 in 2020 to 0.53 in 2021.

In 2021, the most road accident deaths were in Uttar Pradesh (14% of all deaths). This was followed by Tamil Nadu (9.88%) and Maharashtra (8.94%).
