Oladips passes away

Renowned Nigerian singer Oladips passed way recently. Oladips’ management confirmed the tragic news about his death on Instagram, stating:

We are still in shock as we speak”.

Following the news about his death, a fan on X commented:

His storytelling rap was excellent,” X, a former fan, commented on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Hermes Iyele, who is a competitor on Big Brother Naija, expressed his astonishment about the rapper’s death saying:

May God grant the family the grace to carry this grief.”

Cause of death

As of now, Oladips’ cause of death remains unknown. His management team have not revealed the exact cause of his death publicly. According to the message, he “kept his battles within himself” for two years, meaning that he suffered from an undisclosed illness for the past two years.

Oladips aka Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji was a popular Nigerian rapper and songwriter who was born on March 24, 1995, in Ogun State, Nigeria. Prior to starting out his career as a musician, he attended the University of Jos, Plateau, where he graduated with an economics degree.

Oladips net worth is estimated at around $100,000 Us Dollars (Over 41 million in Naira) with him unmarried and single at the time of his death.

Oladips started out his rapping career at the young age of 17, when he entered the “King is Here” competition. He went on to win the competition before starting his work with the Nigerian record label Edge Records. While working under them, he kept producing new music and rapping on political problems, including the infamous ENDSars demonstrations aimed at police brutality. Besides that, he also rapped about mental health and depression.

Oladips eventually began to play at various events and even had plans to join the Olamides YBNL. However, he eventually decided not to because another rapper named Chinko Ekun shared nearly the same rhyming style as him. Notably, various other artists like D’banj, Lord of Ajasa, 2Baba, and others had a big influence on Oladips. Throughout his career, the Nigerian rapper released many singles like Let Dagrin Down, Shoki, Alubarika, Kwarantine, and more.
