According to the initial petition filed on the Harris County District Clerk’s website, the plaintiff, Nia Smith, was one of the first women approached by the NFL star’s legal team when news broke about the first cases being filed last year.
According to the lawsuit, one of Watson’s lawyers told the plaintiff “in an effort to scare her” that “they were going to fight the lawsuits to the maximum extent possible.
The plaintiff was not one of the first women to file a case against Watson, and his legal team sought to persuade her to say nice things about him once they realized she wasn’t one of the Jane Does, according to the document.
“Deshaun Watson, as he has when she initially raised the claims with members of our firm in March of last year, fiercely rejects the charges. In August, she made the same accusations on social media, and he rejected them. The only thing new about her arguments is that they’ve been embellished to make them more radical than before. Deshaun’s denial hasn’t changed.”
Nia Smith is the 23rd girl who has accused Deshaun of sexually assaulting her and abusing her during a massage whilst the NFL continues to fill his coffers.
