My Cause My Cleats was first proposed in 2014, but the initiative began in 2016. In the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats” initiative, athletes wear cleats to show their support for whatever causes they are concerned about. NFL players’ cleats convey a story and pay tribute to certain people. Through My Cause My Cleats, NFL players share their interests outside of the field of play. Players have the option to select a cause that is significant to them and wear cleats that are specifically tailored to promote the organization of their choice.

Through My Cause My Cleats, NFL players share their interests outside of the field of play. Players have the option to select a cause that is significant to them and wear cleats that are specifically tailored to promote the organisation of their choice.
The sale or auction of these cleats via NFL Auction does not generate any revenue for the NFL. The NFL Foundation donates all proceeds from the auction to the organisations chosen by the particular player whose cleats are up for bid. The complete Sales of My Cause My Cleats from the NFL Auction go to the NFL Foundation, which subsequently distributes the money to the players’ chosen charities.
