Local rivals Lazio removed the Giallorossi from the Coppa Italia after they had lost their previous six Serie A games, with Mourinho receiving a red card. In ninth place in Serie A, they are 22 points adrift of league leaders Inter Milan.
Mourinho helped Roma win the Europa Conference League in 2022 after two and a half years there in 2021. The 60-year-old guided them to the Europa League final the previous season, where they were defeated by Sevilla on penalties. In addition, his contract was scheduled to end in June of this year. But because of a bad run of results, Roma cut ties with Mourinho this week.
It is anticipated that Daniele De Rossi, the foundation of Roma’s midfield and a former captain, will succeed Mourinho as manager. The administration of the Italian club will meet with him today. Sky in Italy reports that De Rossi will lead until June, at which point, based on his performance and achievements, the team may choose to extend his contract. Graham Potter and Antonio Conte were also considered for the role.
Newcastle United might turn to Jose Mourinho to replace Eddie Howe.
Eddie Howe’s Magpies are currently 10th in the Premier League after disastrous losses in recent weeks. Although injuries have significantly influenced the result this season, many are questioning whether Newcastle needs a new manager to win their first major prize since 1955.

Jose Mourinho is the favourite to succeed Eddie Howe
Eddie Howe’s managerial role is under scrutiny as the Magpies are now out of Europe’s top league and out of the Champions League spots. After a string of underwhelming performances, Jose Mourinho was fired as manager of Roma on Tuesday morning.
After stints at Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur, the 60-year-old is predicted to return to the Premier League and assume leadership of his fourth English team. With Chelsea, the Portuguese manager enjoyed his greatest success, winning three Premier Leagues, three League Cups, and the FA Cup. Even if his tenure in Manchester ended poorly, the 60-year-old did win both the League Cup and the Europa League in 2017.
Antonio Conte, the Italian manager, is another popular choice. He is now priced at 7/1 and would make a much-needed comeback to management. Although the North London club fired the former Spurs manager following a significant argument in the capital, Conte’s tenure at Chelsea demonstrated his talent. Graham Potter is priced at 8/1 by bookies to return to Premier League management, so he could be an outside choice.
