The draw for the World Series of Darts competition in Hamilton is officially out, and Michael van Gerwen will begin his defense of TAB New Zealand Darts Masters crown on Friday against the hometown favorite Bernie Smith.

TAB New Zealand Darts Masters 2022 Tournament Format
Each match during the first round will utilize the top leg out of the 11 available. All games will be played in a best-of-15 format beginning with the second round. The Final will likewise follow the best of 15 legs format.

At Hamilton’s Globox Arena on Friday night, Price will face DPNZ No. 1 Ben Robb in an intriguing first-round matchup as he pursues his first World Series tour victory. Van Gerwen, who won the Queensland Darts Masters a fortnight ago, will face former World Championship qualifier Smith on Friday in the opening round.
The tournament’s top seed, Dimitri Van den Bergh, who won the World Series in June in Amsterdam and Copenhagen, will take on Australian legend Simon Whitlock. Meanwhile, Whitlock’s World Cup-winning partner Damon Heta will clash against 2022 Masters champion Joe Cullen. Elsewhere, James Wade, who finished second in the NSW Darts Masters, will compete against Australia’s Gordon Mathers for a second time, and Fallon Sherrock, who won the Women’s World Matchplay, will face a newcomer Kayden Milne on the major stage.
The second TAB New Zealand Darts Masters will be hosted by the Professional Darts Corporation in 2022. Additionally, it will be the sixth match in that year’s World Series of Darts. The competition will feature 16 players on August 26–27, 2022, at the Globox Arena in Hamilton, New Zealand—eight PDC professionals and eight regional qualifiers. Michael van Gerwen is the reigning champion after defeating Raymond van Barneveld in the 2019 championship match 8-1.

Prize Money Pool Distribution Of TAB New Zealand Darts Masters 2022
The winner of the 2022 TAB New Zealand Darts Masters will get £20,000 in prize money, which is twice as much as the second-place finisher. Additionally, there is a £60,000 net prize pool for the contest.
