History Of New Orleans Vampire Association

Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, a group of self-identified vampires, who had become acquainted through social interaction and had various affiliations with various national and international communities, decided that the vampire community in the New Orleans area would benefit from the formation of some sort of local association or organisation.

They began gathering to discuss their emerging shared vision and the technicalities of creating the organisation while retaining their connections and keeping communications open to other groups and that’s how NOVA was born.

Its purpose

NOVA was founded in 2005 to give support and organisation to the vampire and other-kin subcultures, as well as educational and philanthropic assistance to those in need. They may be found in Jackson Square dishing out food around Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Short-term objectives include raising funds to sustain and expand feeding activities, as well as establishing a fund to support long-term objectives, the most important of which is acquiring its own land to offer food and shelter to people in need in the community.
