1. Tom Moody

Former Australian cricketer fits the bill, having worked with Indian youngsters during his tenure as the coach of IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad. He even led the team to victory in 2016. 2. Mahela Jayawardene

Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene scored a stunning century against India in the 2011 World Cup final and then went on to be the batting coach for England, after retiring. Akin to Tom Moody, he too has a synergy with Indians, having led Mumbai Indians to win the IPL three times. He has also worked as a coach during Bangladesh Premier League’s Khulna Tigers for two years.

3. Rahul Dravid

Although ‘The Wall’ has repeatedly turned down any chances of being India’s head coach, one just cannot rule out Rahul Dravid, considering his credentials. He is the Director of Cricket Operations at the National Cricket Academy, and has worked with U-19 squads, India A teams and fringe players.

After stepping down as Kings’ coach, he was appointed as the Director of Operations at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) where he has built a good relationship with RCB skipper and Indian captain Virat Kohli.

5. VVS Laxman

VVS Laxman could be a surprise pick, but maybe not when you consider the respect and laurels he has garnered throughout his career. Former middle-order batsman, he is currently working as a mentor for Sunrisers Hyderabad and has obviously learnt a lot from Tom Moody.
