The entire country of India catches its breath as Neeraj Chopra starts picking up a javelin, know the new record he has set and his best throw ever
The Indian javelin throw ace, too, rarely fails to impress, consistently collecting gold and setting new marks. Neeraj Chopra’s gold medal triumph at Tokyo 2020 was perhaps the pinnacle of his brief but exciting career thus far.
Neeraj Chopra, in his early 20, has become the first Indian track – and – field sportsman to earn Olympic gold and just the 2nd Indian, after sniper Abhinav Bindra, to achieve an athletic Olympic gold at the Summer Games with a season’s best of 87.58m inside the finals.
Neeraj Chopra Best Throws List Ever And New India National Record Highest Throw Length
He recently broke his own national throw record at the Paavo Nurmi Games 2022 after throwing a distance of 89.30m, a new Indian record which saw him win silver in Finland.
Even Neeraj Chopra’s second-best throws of 87.03m at the Japan National Stadium during the Tokyo 2020 men’s javelin throw finals could be enough to get him to the top of the leader board. Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic won a silver medal with a throw of 86.67 meters.
Interestingly, despite how big the 87.58m Gold medal throw was, it wasn’t Neeraj Chopra’s career record. In fact, it only just cracks the top 5.
Records:
Neeraj Chopra’s best pitch is 89.30 meters, which gained him the second prize in the Paavo Nurmi Games on June 14, 2022, in Turku, Finland. The time is both the men’s record holder and Neeraj Chopra’s personal best in India.
On 21 occasions, Neeraj Chopra has surpassed the 85-meter mark. Two of them made it to the 88-meter mark. Three of these performances happened in the Paavo Nurmi Games in 2022, his first competition after winning Olympic gold 10 months before.
At the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championship in Bydgoszcz, Poland, Neeraj Chopra took gold. This performance followed an 86.48m effort, which set a new record set for an under-20 athlete!
In contrast, the Indian ace’s gold-medal-winning performance at the Commonwealth Games 2018 was marginally shorter at 86.47m.
Here’s a rundown of Neeraj Chopra’s most memorable throws.
