To mitigate the losses expected due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NBA has accordingly set the salary cap projections for the 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 seasons

The National Basketball Association consists of 30 teams and is one of the four major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, it has announced the updated salary cap projections for the upcoming three seasons, taking in account the pandemic losses. Read on to know how much each team can spend on salaries for the next three NBA seasons.

NBA Salary Cap Explained: Projections By Year 2021, 2022 And 2023

The salary cap for the current 2020-21 NBA season is set at $109.1 million while the luxury tax is at $132.6 million. The numbers have not been increased from the 2019-20 season due to the pandemic, although the league will try its best to decrease the losses recurred by the players in the coming seasons.

They will have at least 10 percent of their salaries put in an escrow account and could possibly lose up to 20 percent them. However, all the losses above 10 percent will be spread out over the three seasons. Following are the NBA Salary Cap and Luxury Tax projections for the coming seasons.

2021-2022: $112 million and $136.6 million
2022-2023: $115.7 million and $140 million
2023-2024: $119.2 million and $144.9 million

NBA Schedule For The 2021-22 Season

After a shortened season of just 72 games which started in December, the National Basketball Association is finally looking forward to head back to its normal timeline. According to American sports reporter Shams Charania, the 2021-22 NBA season is scheduled to start on the 19th of October with the NBA Draft taking place on the 29th of July.

While October is when the regular season starts, the training camp will begin on 28th September and the playoffs will happen from 16th April. As for the final games, Finals Game 1 will take place on 2nd June and the Finals Game 7 will take place on 19th June. Last but not the least, 23rd June is when the NBA draft for the next season takes place.
