For the first time in 30 years, Utah will host All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City, where it was first held in 1993.

Starting on Friday, February 17, the Utah Jazz’s home arena, Vivint Arena, will host the 2023 edition.

Eight events, including the first-ever HBCU Classic between Grambling State and Southern, are part of the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend.

The two teams will be led and named, in keeping with the tradition started in 2018, by the top fan-vote winner from each conference. The two teams will take turns selecting their lineup from a pool of 22 available players, beginning with the captain who garnered the most votes overall. These 22 players are chosen based on a number of variables, including conference affiliation, fan vote, and coach advice.

Two guards and three frontcourt players make up the starting lineup for each conference’s five representatives. These five candidates were chosen based on a combination of votes from fans (who received 50%), active players (25%), and the media (25%).

The 30 NBA coaches decide which 14 players are still available for the draft. Two guards, three frontcourt players, and two players at any position from each conference are chosen by the group. Voting for members of their own teams is not permitted, though.
