Nayyara Noor was a Pakistani legendary singer and she died this Sunday that was 20.8.22 in the morning at the age of 71 years. Her cause of death is still not known. Noor’s funeral will be held at 4 pm on Sunday.
t is with a heavy heart that declared the passing of my beloved aunt (tayi) Nayyara Noor. She stated, May”I her soul R.I.P. She was given the title of the ‘Bulbul-e-Pakistan’ because of her melodious voice. #NayyaraNoor,” the singer’s nephew Rana Zaidi wrote on her official Twitter account.
The legend had undergone treatment for the last few days. She is survived by her husband, Sheharyar Zaidi, and two sons, Ali and Jaafer. Popularly known as the Bulbul-e-Pakistan, Nayyara Noor was born in Guwahati, Assam, India in year 1950.
Her family settled in the north-eastern Indian state. Noor’s father was a member of the All-India Muslim League and had hosted Pakistan’s founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah during his trip to Assam before the partition in the year 1947.
Noor, at the age of seven years, with her mother and siblings moved to Pakistan, settling in the city of Karachi. Moreover, her father stayed back in Assam until year 1993 to look after the family’s immovable properties. Nayyara Noor reportedly was inspired by the bhajans of Kanan Devi and Kamla as well as the ghazals and thumris of Begum Akhtar during her childhood. She performed in a number of concerts during her career days
